Hearts Toward Home International

Dedicated to the Restoration & Reintegration of Trauma Survivors

I have worked with veterans for nearly twenty years helping them work through issues dealing with combat and reintegration. I specialize in PTSD and work directly with deployed troops and their families. I also work specifically with Chaplains, military leaders, and military health care providers in helping to recognize signs and symptoms in themselves and their troops as well as provide interventions that can aid them in their journey. I conduct workshops with all branches of service across the country and internationally.

Dr. Bridget Cantrell is proud and excited to participate on the panel during two upcoming screenings of “SERVICE – When Women Come Marching Home” in Tacoma and Seattle next week.

“SERVICE” is a fantastic documentary by Marcia Rock and Patricia Lee Stotter that portrays the courage of several women veterans as they transition from active duty to their civilian lives.

As explained by Alfie Alvarado-Ramos, Director, WA State Dept of VA, “This inspiring documentary is about women warriors in their most fierce and intimate battle to overcome visible and invisible wounds … a must see!”

The film is part of a much larger project. Through a strong social media presence, SERVICE will continue supporting women through open and closed Facebook groups where women can exchange information, find friendship and share solutions that have changed their lives.

In addition to her appearance on the panel, Dr. Cantrell proud to be on the project’s Board of Advisors and developing the accompanying guidebook with contributions from Christina Roof and several vets.

Here at Hearts Toward Home, we are ringing in the New Year with the news of a generous donation from Saturna Capital located in Bellingham, WA. A giant Hearts Toward Home salute goes out to Saturna Capital. This donation will help Hearts Toward Home increase its mission to help veterans and support our troops. Thank you, Saturna Capital.

What do veterans, homeless, and heroes have in common? Action. Bravery. Selflessness. The Associated Press reported a story about two homeless veterans who saved Gary Wagner, a resident of Cinncinnati, during an attempted robbery at a downtown ATM machine last Monday. The two veterans, who had never met before, joined forces to assist Mr. Wagner and saved him from his attacker. Cincinnati police captain, Gary Lee, called their actions courageous and unselfish. The two veterans are Chad McClain and David Hale. Check out the story, Bystanders Help Thwart Robbery, online at www.cincinnati.com and click the News TAB. We are proud of our veterans and Hearts Toward Home sends a thank you salute to honor Chad and David.

A Conversation with Dr. Bridget Cantrell

Through the Woods and Over the Hill: The Aging of America’s Warriors

Hi, everyone,

This has been a remarkable year for Hearts Toward Home. Working with our veterans and active duty troops, I have seen the power of healing work in unexpected ways to restore wholeness to the lives of many. I am privileged to know so many of you. Please continue to write when you can. In the meantime, I am thrilled to announce that I have recently completed my new book, Through the Woods and Over the Hill: The Aging of America’s Warriors, AND the manuscript is soon to be published.

Throughout the years, my doors have always been open to the veteran community. As most of you know, my dad was a WWII and a Korean conflict veteran. His struggles with trauma compelled me to pursue this area as my life’s work. The more I counsel our aging warriors, the more I understand the long term effects of trying to sort out the repercussions of past military experiences.

As we move through the final pre-publication stage for the book, we invite you to reserve your book today by emailing us at inquire@heartstowardhome.com. The first 50 email requests will receive a 20% discount off the retail price with your first order. During the upcoming weeks, I will share more on the aging of our warriors. Be sure and check in and tell me your story. I would love to hear from you.

Until next time…Dr. Bridget C. Cantrell
